Product Description

Product Overview
The FrankLab Coating Evaluation Electrochemical Cell is a localized electrochemical testing platform designed for quantitative evaluation of protective coatings, surface treatments, and corrosion-resistant layers.
Unlike conventional immersion cells that expose the entire sample to electrolyte, this system enables precise, well-defined exposure of a limited surface area, allowing researchers and engineers to isolate coating performance from edge effects, substrate interference, and uncontrolled wetting.
This cell is widely used in corrosion science, coating durability studies, surface engineering, and industrial qualification testing, where reproducibility, geometric control, and data comparability are critical.

Structural Design & Configuration
Localized Exposure Geometry
•Circular exposure window defined by precision sealing gaskets
•Only the target coating area is in contact with electrolyte
•Substrate backside and edges remain fully isolated
This design ensures accurate current density normalization and reliable comparison across samples.

Mechanical Clamping & Sealing System
•Rigid stainless-steel clamp applies uniform pressure
•PTFE sealing gaskets prevent leakage and lateral undercutting
•Nylon base provides electrical insulation and mechanical stability
The sealing system is optimized for long-term electrochemical stability without creep or drift.

Three-Electrode Compatibility
•Working electrode: coated sample (substrate-mounted)
•Counter electrode: graphite rod (standard)
•Reference electrode: external Ag/AgCl (via adapter)
Fully compatible with potentiostats for EIS, LSV, CV, Tafel, and long-term polarization testing.

Available Cell Volumes & Exposure Sizes
Nominal Volume Inner Diameter (ID) Typical Application
8 mL 15 mm Micro-area screening, high-value coatings
30 mL 24 mm Laboratory corrosion evaluation
50 mL 35 mm Standard coating performance tests
