Product Description

Product Overview

The FrankLab Flat Corrosion Cell is a research-grade electrochemical test cell designed for quantitative corrosion and coating performance evaluation on flat substrates under well-defined and reproducible conditions.

Unlike conventional beaker cells or immersion setups, this cell provides a controlled exposure area, rigid sealing, and stable electrode geometry, enabling high-confidence electrochemical measurements such as polarization curves and impedance spectroscopy.

It is widely used in corrosion science, surface engineering, protective coatings R&D, and industrial materials qualification, bridging academic research accuracy and engineering-level reliability.

Core Design Philosophy

Planar geometry · Defined exposure · Reproducible data

The Flat Corrosion Cell is engineered to:

•Precisely define the electrochemically active surface area

•Eliminate edge corrosion and crevice leakage artifacts

•Maintain stable electrolyte contact over long test durations

•Deliver repeatable, publication-grade electrochemical results

Structural Design & Configuration

Flat Sample Exposure Architecture

•Designed specifically for planar metal or coated coupons

•Only the front surface is exposed to electrolyte

•Backside and edges are fully isolated to prevent parasitic currents

Rigid Compression & Sealing System

•PTFE compression plates on both sides

•Stainless steel tie rods with adjustable clamping force

•Chemical-resistant sealing gasket defining exposure window

•Prevents electrolyte creep and under-film corrosion

Optimized Electrode Geometry

Dedicated ports for:

•Working electrode (flat sample)

•Reference electrode

•Counter electrode

•Geometry optimized for uniform current distribution and low IR drop
