Product Description
Quartz-Window Observable MEA Reactor Cell
The Quartz-Window Observable MEA Reactor Cell is a high-precision membrane electrode assembly (MEA) electrochemical reactor specifically designed for in-situ visualization, operando diagnostics, and high-speed imaging during electrochemical reactions. By integrating optical quartz windows on both electrodes, this reactor enables direct observation of interfacial phenomena while maintaining excellent electrochemical performance and sealing reliability.
Key Structural & Functional Features
1. Dual-Side Optical Observation Both the cathode and anode are equipped with optical visualization windows, enabling:
•In-situ and operando observation of gas evolution, bubble dynamics, flooding, and mass-transfer behavior
•Compatibility with high-speed cameras, optical microscopy, and spectroscopic techniques
•Real-time monitoring of reaction stability and electrode performance
2. Customizable Optical Window Materials
•Standard configuration: High-transparency quartz window, suitable for UV–Vis, Raman, and high-temperature applications
•Optional customization: acrylic (PMMA) or other transparent materials depending on chemical compatibility and budget requirements
3. High-Purity Titanium Construction
•Bipolar plates and compression plates are manufactured from high-purity titanium
•Excellent corrosion resistance for acidic, alkaline, and neutral electrolytes
•Suitable for long-term stability tests and aggressive electrochemical environments
4. Asymmetric Flow-Field Design
•Cathode: Hollow serpentine flow channel, optimized for uniform reactant distribution and gas/liquid management
•Anode: Hollow multi-parallel flow channels, designed to reduce pressure drop and enhance product removal
•Flow-field geometries can be fully customized (serpentine, parallel, interdigitated, leaf-type, etc.)
5. Configurable Active Reaction Area Standard effective active areas include:
•20 × 20 mm
•30 × 30 mm
•50 × 50 mm Other sizes are available upon request to match specific research needs.
6. Fully Customizable Geometry
•Bipolar plate thickness
•Flow-channel width and depth
•Window size and position
All parameters can be tailored to accommodate different current densities, mass-transfer regimes, and optical setups.
Typical Applications
•CO₂ electroreduction (CO₂RR) with MEA configurations
•Water electrolysis and gas evolution studies
•Fuel cell and electrolyzer fundamental research
•Photo-electrochemical (PEC) coupling with external illumination
•Visualization of bubble nucleation, detachment, and transport
•Operando studies combining electrochemistry with optical or spectroscopic diagnostics
