Copper Sulfate Reference Electrode

Copper Sulfate Reference Electrode

Product Description
Shipping & Delivery
The FrankLab Copper Sulfate Reference Electrode (Cu/CuSO₄) is a widely used reference system in corrosion studies, concrete/steel structure monitoring, soil electrochemistry, environmental testing, and field-based measurements. It provides a stable, reproducible potential, excellent durability, and strong ionic stability in sulfate-based environments.
Constructed with high borosilicate glass, a pure copper internal element, and saturated CuSO₄ electrolyte, this electrode is designed for both laboratory and field use, offering reliable performance over extended periods.

Key Features

• Stable & Well-Defined Reference Potential

The Cu/CuSO₄ redox couple provides:

Highly stable potential

• Excellent reproducibility in soil and corrosion systems

• Long-term performance in field or laboratory environments

Typical potential (25°C): +0.316 V vs. NHE (in saturated CuSO₄ solution)

• High Borosilicate Glass Body

FrankLab electrodes use premium high borosilicate glass, offering:

High chemical stability in sulfate electrolytes.

Excellent resistance to temperature fluctuation.

Smooth surfaces that reduce contamination

Long-term mechanical durability

• Corrosion & Environmental Applications

Ideal for:

Steel rebar corrosion monitoring (reinforced concrete)

Pipeline and underground structure testing

Soil electrochemistry

Cathodic protection systems

General corrosion analysis in sulfate media

This electrode is frequently used in civil engineering, geochemistry, and corrosion R&D.

• Low-Leakage Porous Junction

Available porous materials:

• Porous glass

• Ceramic junction

• PTFE low-leak variants

Benefits:
  • Stable ionic contact
  • Reduced contamination into soil or liquid media
  • Long-term stability in high-resistance environments
