Double-Junction Hg/HgO Reference Electrode, Alkaline

Double-Junction Hg/HgO Reference Electrode, Alkaline

Product Description
Shipping & Delivery
The Standard Reference for Alkaline Electrochemistry
The FrankLab Double-Junction Hg/HgO Reference Electrode is designed for alkaline electrochemical systems, offering a stable and reliable reference potential in strongly basic electrolytes such as KOH and NaOH. The dual-junction architecture, coupled with a high borosilicate glass body, ensures minimal contamination, reduced ionic crossover, and superior potential stability for long-term electrocatalysis and battery research.
This electrode is widely used in OER, HER, Zn–air/OH⁻ batteries, alkaline fuel cells, and transition-metal catalyst studies.

Key Features

•Optimized for Alkaline Electrolytes

Hg/HgO reference electrodes provide:
•Highly stable potential in 1–6 M KOH
•Low drift under long-duration alkaline operation
•Better reproducibility vs. Ag/AgCl in high-pH media
Typical potential: +0.098 V vs. NHE (in 1 M KOH, 25°C) (Adjustable based on KOH concentration)

• Double-Junction Structure for Reduced Contamination

The intermediate chamber prevents direct contact between the sample electrolyte and internal KOH, offering:
•Minimal ion crossover (especially important for catalytic metals)
•Improved stability in sensitive systems
•Longer electrode lifetime
•Ability to interface with non-KOH alkaline electrolytes
This is crucial for studies involving:
Ni, Co, Fe oxides, perovskites, spinels, layered hydroxides, etc.

• High Borosilicate Glass Body

All FrankLab glass electrodes use premium high borosilicate glass, ensuring:
•Exceptional chemical resistance to strong alkaline electrolytes
•High thermal shock resistance
•Smooth surface minimizing contamination
•Long-term dimensional and structural stability
This is essential for durability in high-pH environments.

• Low Drift, Low Noise, High Reproducibility

•Stable Hg/HgO redox couple
•Ideal for OER/HER kinetic analysis
•Low junction potential
•Reliable baseline for CV / LSV / EIS
