Product Description
Product Overview
The FrankLab H-Type Sealed Microvolume Electrochemical Cell is a classic dual-chamber electrochemical reactor designed for strict separation of anodic and cathodic compartments using an interchangeable ion-exchange membrane.
This cell is engineered for high-precision, low-volume electrolysis and mechanistic studies, where cross-contamination must be eliminated and gas/liquid products must be independently collected or analyzed.
With a fully sealed structure, precision-ground glass joints, and chemically inert sealing components, this H-cell is widely used in CO₂RR, water electrolysis, redox mediator studies, and membrane evaluation experiments.
Cell Configuration
Two-Electrode Symmetric Design
•Left chamber: Anode compartment
•Right chamber: Cathode compartment
•Central membrane junction: interchangeable (PEM / AEM / BPM)
Each side is identical in volume and geometry, ensuring balanced hydrodynamics and reproducible electrochemical conditions.
Available Volume Options (Per Chamber)
| Model | Volume (Left / Right) |
| Micro | 5 mL / 5 mL |
| Small | 10 mL / 10 mL |

Key Features
•True Anode–Cathode Isolation
The H-type geometry physically separates oxidation and reduction reactions, preventing product crossover and enabling accurate Faradaic efficiency and selectivity analysis.
•Interchangeable Membrane Interface
Supports rapid swapping of:
•Nafion® (PEM)
•FAA / Sustainion® (AEM)
•Bipolar membranes (BPM)
Ideal for membrane screening and durability testing.
• Gas-Tight, Chemically Inert
All wetted components are glass, PTFE, or high-grade elastomers—compatible with acidic, alkaline, and organic electrolytes.
• Modular & Research-Friendly
Volumes, port orientation, electrode size, and membrane aperture can be tailored to your experimental protocol.
Typical Applications
•CO₂ Reduction Reaction (CO₂RR)
•Water Electrolysis (HER / OER separation)
•Redox mediator studies
•Membrane conductivity & crossover evaluation
•Electrosynthesis with product isolation
•Long-term stability testing under sealed conditions
