Carbon Black Ketjenblack EC-300J,EC600JD
Product Overview
Ketjenblack® is a high-purity conductive carbon black featuring a unique mesoporous structure and extremely high specific surface area. These characteristics enable Ketjenblack to form efficient conductive networks even at low loading levels, making it an ideal conductive additive for advanced electrochemical systems.
Ketjenblack carbon black is widely used in battery electrodes, fuel cell catalyst supports, conductive composites, and electrochemical research. Its excellent electronic conductivity and high surface area allow improved charge transport, enhanced catalyst dispersion, and better electrochemical performance.

Key Features
•Extremely high specific surface area
•Excellent electronic conductivity
•Unique mesoporous carbon structure
•Efficient conductive network formation
•High thermal stability (>1000 °C)
•Suitable for catalyst loading and dispersion
•Effective conductive additive at low loading levels
Applications
Ketjenblack conductive carbon black is widely used in:
Battery Manufacturing
•Lithium-ion battery electrodes
•Conductive additives in cathode materials
•Conductive network formation in electrode films
•Organic cathode material systems
Adding small amounts of Ketjenblack (typically ~5 wt%) can significantly enhance the electrical conductivity of electrode films and improve battery performance.
Fuel Cells & Electrocatalysis
•Catalyst support materials
•Fuel cell catalyst layers
•Electrocatalyst nanoparticle deposition
•Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) research
•Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) studies
The high surface area allows catalyst nanoparticles to be dispersed or grown directly on the carbon structure.
Conductive & Antistatic Materials
Ketjenblack is widely used to improve conductivity in polymer composites and antistatic materials. Due to its high surface area, conductive networks can be achieved at very low loading levels (<2 wt%), minimizing the impact on mechanical properties.
Processing & Dispersion Notes
Ketjenblack carbon black can be difficult to disperse, especially in viscous media.
For battery electrode preparation:
- Disperse Ketjenblack thoroughly in solvent first
- Then add PVDF binder
- Finally incorporate cathode active materials
This process helps prevent carbon agglomeration and ensures uniform conductive networks in the electrode.
Thermal Stability
Ketjenblack carbon black exhibits excellent thermal stability and can tolerate heat treatments up to approximately 1000 °C without losing structural integrity or conductivity.
This makes it suitable for catalyst synthesis processes involving:
•Annealing
•Thermal reduction
•Oxide / nitride catalyst preparation
