Product Description
Product Overview
The FrankLab PTFE Electrolytic Cell with Quartz Optical Window is a chemically inert electrochemical reactor designed for optical electrochemistry, photo-electrochemical studies, and corrosive electrolyte systems where conventional glass cells are not suitable.
The cell body is machined from high-purity PTFE, combined with a quartz optical window that provides excellent UV–Vis light transmission while maintaining chemical resistance and structural stability.
Two configurations are available to match different experimental needs:
•PTFE Non-Sealed Electrolytic Cell – open system for routine optical electrochemistry
•PTFE Sealed Electrolytic Cell – gas-tight system for controlled atmosphere experiments
Product Versions
1. PTFE Non-Sealed Electrolytic Cell (Quartz Optical Window)
Designed for routine laboratory electrochemical and optical measurements under ambient conditions.
Key characteristics:
•Open, non-sealed structure
•Easy electrode insertion and adjustment
•Rapid electrolyte replacement
•Optical access through quartz window
✔ Best choice for UV-Vis monitoring, photo-electrochemistry, and method development
2. PTFE Sealed Electrolytic Cell (Quartz Optical Window)
Designed for experiments requiring gas isolation, controlled atmospheres, or volatile electrolytes.
Additional features:
•Gas-tight PTFE sealing system
•Dedicated gas inlet and outlet ports
•Reduced oxygen / moisture interference
•Stable optical path during long-term testing
✔ Best choice for CO₂RR, air-sensitive reactions, operando optical studies

Key Features
• Quartz Optical Window for In-Situ Monitoring
The integrated quartz window enables real-time optical observation of electrochemical processes without disturbing the electrode configuration.
Supports:
•UV-Vis absorption
•Photo-electrochemical reactions
•Optical tracking of intermediates
• PTFE Construction for Maximum Chemical Compatibility
PTFE provides exceptional resistance to:
•Strong acids (H₂SO₄, HCl, HNO₃)
•Strong bases (KOH, NaOH)
•Organic solvents
✔ Ideal for aggressive or non-standard electrolytes
• Flexible Electrode Configuration
Compatible with:
•Glassy carbon, Pt, Au, metal rod electrodes
•Wire or plate counter electrodes
•Standard reference electrodes (Ag/AgCl, Hg/HgO, SCE)
Electrode port size and threading can be customized.
• Sealed or Open — Choose Your Workflow
•Non-Sealed: fast operation, high flexibility
•Sealed: controlled gas environment, improved reproducibility
Both versions share identical optical geometry.
