Product Overview

Toray TGP-H Carbon Paper is a high-performance carbon–carbon composite material widely used as a Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL) in fuel cells and electrochemical energy systems.
Manufactured from PAN-based TORAYCA® carbon fibers, the fibers are firmly bonded through carbonization, providing excellent mechanical strength, stable conductivity, and uniform gas permeability.
The TGP-H series has been extensively applied in PEM fuel cells (PEMFC), PAFC, electrolyzers, and electrochemical gas diffusion systems for decades, demonstrating outstanding durability and reliability in long-term operation.

Key Features

• High mechanical strength and excellent handling properties
• Uniform pore structure for stable gas diffusion
• Low electrical resistivity
• Good chemical and electrochemical corrosion resistance
• Proven long-term durability in fuel cell systems
• Suitable for PTFE treatment and MPL coating
• Widely used as base carbon paper for customized GDL fabrication

Material Structure

• Base material: PAN-based carbon fiber (TORAYCA®)
• Structure: Carbon–carbon composite paper
• Fiber bonding: Carbonized inter-fiber connection
• Surface: Untreated (PTFE coating optional)
SEM microstructure shows a uniform carbon fiber network with interconnected pores, ensuring efficient gas transport and electron conduction.
